Srinagar, July 30 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir Engineering Services Forum has extended its deep appreciation to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhary, and Principal Secretary Anil Kumar Singh (IAS) for their sustained efforts in strengthening the engineering cadre and public infrastructure in the Union Territory. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) the Forum welcomed two significant government orders issued by the Public Works (R&B) Department: - Government Order No. 241-PW(R&B) of 2025, dated July 30, 2025, effecting the placement of engineers as In-Charge Superintending Engineers and the Government Order No. 242-PW(R&B) of 2025, dated July 30, 2025, promoting 32 engineers to the post of Executive Engineer (Civil). “These landmark decisions reflect the Government’s confidence in the engineering fraternity and have come as a major morale booster,” the Forum said. The Forum has urged the administration to expedite the issuance of formal postings for the elevated engineers to ensure a smooth transition and effective functioning in their new assignments. It further expressed hope that the long-pending regularisation of eligible engineers will be fast-tracked under the current proactive political and administrative leadership. The Forum also called upon the government to initiate timely placement of all eligible Assistant Engineers as Assistant Executive Engineers (AEE), and to immediately undertake a revision of the Gazetted Recruitment Rules, aiming to bring greater transparency, remove stagnation, and streamline promotional avenues across the engineering services.
